Håkan Sund is a conductor, pianist and composer, born and raised in Sandviken. He was educated at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, where he has also been a lecturer in piano playing. Over the years, Håkan has conducted many choirs and larger orchestras in Sweden and has also had assignments abroad. Since 2008, he has conducted the Academic Choir in Stockholm and he also leads the Stockholm Men’s Choir and Orphei Veteraner in Uppsala.

Håkan Sund has had concerts in Berwaldhallen, Konserthuset, at Gröna Lund and Liseberg but has also appeared as a pianist in Carnegie Hall in New York, Chicago Orchestra Hall, Musikverein in Vienna, Salle Playel Paris, Queen Elisabeth Hall London and many other places around the world.
He has also performed concerts with many famous names such as Barbara Hendricks, Elisabeth Söderström, Kjerstin Dellert, Birgit Nordinm Sylvia Vrethammar, Sylvia Lindenstrand, Ingvar Wixell, Nicolai Gedda, Håkan Hagegård, Barbara Bonney, Britt Marie Aruhn, Erik Saedén, Ragnar Ulfung, Bengt Rundgren, Martti Wallén, Sten Wahlund, Erland Hagegård, Edith Thallaug, Hans Josefsson, Sefan Dahlberg, Lena Hoel, Gunnel Bohman, Helena Döse, Margareta Jonth, Tito Beltran, Loa Falkman, Marcus Jupither, Bengt Krantz, Anna Eklund, Malena Ernman, Olle Persson, Mikael Samuelsson, Elin Rombo, Susanne Rydén, Michael Weinius, Jonas Degerfeldt. He has also performed improvisational concerts with Bengt Hallberg and Roland Pöntinen.
As a choir conductor, he has conducted the Radio Choir, Eric Ericsson’s Chamber Choir, Adolf Fredrik’s Bach Choir, Stockholm Philharmonic Choir, Orphei Drängar, etc. – and he has been the head teacher at the Swedish Singers’ Association’s courses in choral conducting.
He plays classical, jazz and other genres.
